Located just 3 miles from Georgetown, Great Exuma is Elizabeth Island. There is a screen house used for growing vegetables and a citrus grove beyond with a lemon tree, Meyers lemon, Persian lime, Key lime, Honeybelle, Valencia orange, small grapefruit as well as a soursop tree. Mature coconut trees line the path to the beaches on the sound. From the beaches on the Sound side, there are endless coral reefs for snorkeling, teeming with fish and marine wildlife.

The island is self-sufficient with solar panels on the roof that provide power for virtually all the electrical needs. There is a 16KW diesel generator in its own dedicated building. All utilities are underground. Water is supplied by one large cistern divided into three separate lined chambers of approx.12,500 gallons each and there is another cistern located by the generator building of approx. 9,000 gallons. There are three separate pump systems for freshwater supply. The International airport is just 15 minutes from Georgetown, making it easily accessible but still has the idyllic privacy you would expect from private island ownership. The island is currently being used as a private residence, however it can be used as a commercial development such as a small resort.
